Russia and Pakistan Sign Agreement on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation

28 November

Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq signed an agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation during a bilateral meeting. The agreement, which aims to deepen collaboration between the two nations, was announced on the Russian parliament's website.

Volodin emphasized that the agreement marks a new stage in Russian-Pakistani relations. “We must ensure that this agreement fosters the development of new formats of cooperation, making them productive and mutually beneficial,” he said.

Sadiq highlighted the unprecedented level of interaction Pakistan shares with Russia, stating that such collaboration is unparalleled with any other country.

The two leaders also discussed preparations for the next conference of parliamentary speakers on counterterrorism and regional cooperation, scheduled to take place in Moscow next year.

In addition, the conversation covered financial and economic collaboration, trade volume expansion, and joint efforts to address common threats and challenges. Volodin noted that Russia has been subjected to over 22,000 sanctions but continues to make progress. “We are overcoming these challenges, ensuring the development of our nation,” he said, pointing to positive GDP growth in terms of purchasing power parity.
