Russia and Tajikistan are bound by a shared commitment to preserving their common history and traditional spiritual values. This sentiment is articulated in a joint declaration on deepening their strategic partnership and alliance, signed in Dushanbe by the presidents of the two nations, Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon.
"The sides are united by their careful and respectful attitude towards their shared, rich history, traditional spiritual and moral values, and each other's linguistic and cultural heritage," states the text of the document, published on the Kremlin's website.
The declaration notes that both countries will continue to expand cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, which "holds a special place in the complex of Russian-Tajik relations."
The parties advocated for enhanced dialogue on preserving the memory of the shared past of their peoples and on countering attempts to falsify history, which are "aimed at undermining the friendly relations between the two countries." Furthermore, the nations are prepared to increase interaction between historians, archivists, search units, and volunteer and youth organizations.
"The sides recognize the significance of the Russian and Tajik languages for the peoples of the two countries as languages of great literature, science, and art, and emphasize the importance of their development in the interests of cultural and humanitarian cooperation," the statement also affirmed.
