The parties to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh must cease hostilities and begin diplomatic settlement, Russia is ready to assist, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Yerevan on Friday.
"First of all, I would like to express my sincerest condolences to all the relatives and friends of the victims of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We mourn with all those who have lost their loved ones in this conflict," Mishustin said. - "It is important to ensure an immediate end to all hostilities and to start a diplomatic settlement of the conflict. And Russia is ready to contribute to that together with other OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh escalated on September 27, with battles on the line of contact. Martial law has been introduced in Azerbaijan and Armenia, and mobilization has been announced. The sides report killed and wounded, including among the civilian population.
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers to Moscow for consultations on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh through the mediation of the Russian Foreign Minister. Representatives of those countries confirmed that the ministers accepted the invitation and would arrive in Moscow on Friday.
