According to a statement by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russia stands ready to provide assistance to Afghanistan in the aftermath of devastating floods.
Zakharova expressed Moscow's sorrow and sympathy upon learning about the destructive floods caused by heavy rains in the Baghlan province in northeastern Afghanistan, which claimed the lives of over 300 people.
“In case of an appeal from Kabul, Moscow is ready to provide necessary assistance to the friendly people of Afghanistan,” noted the representative of the Russian diplomatic service.
Zakharova also conveyed sincere condolences to the Afghan people in connection with this natural disaster. “We sympathize with the relatives and friends of the deceased. We wish a speedy recovery to the affected,” she added.
On May 10th, Afghanistan experienced flooding due to heavy rains. According to the UN World Food Programme (WFP), at least 311 people died as a result of the floods. A representative of the International Organization for Migration informed AFP that over 2,000 houses were destroyed.
