Russia is exploring the possibility of opening embassies in Niger, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan, according to Alexei Klimov, head of the Consular Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with TASS.
“We are currently working on expanding Russia's diplomatic presence in African countries, including the establishment of embassies in Niger, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan, which will also include consular sections,” Klimov stated.
At the end of 2023, Russia opened an embassy in Burkina Faso. In late March, Vsevolod Tkachenko, director of the Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, also announced that the Russian embassy in Equatorial Guinea had already begun operations.
