Russia is aiming to strengthen its ties with Bahrain in the fields of tourism and education, according to Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. She shared this intention during a meeting with Ahmed Al-Musallam, Chairman of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain’s National Assembly.
“We are pleased that Bahraini citizens are showing interest in pursuing higher education in Russia. Currently, 31 students from Bahrain are studying in various Russian universities. It’s not a large number, but we are open and ready to deepen cooperation in the field of education,” Matviyenko said.
She also emphasized Russia’s interest in developing mutual tourism. “Tourism is not only an important sector of our economies, but also a way for people to get to know each other's cultures, traditions, and faiths. This fosters friendship and mutual understanding between our nations,” she noted.
Matviyenko highlighted that in 2024, about 9,000 trips from Bahrain to Russia were recorded — a fivefold increase compared to 2023. “We will fully support this direction. I believe you are also interested in welcoming more tourists to your country,” she concluded.
