Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov thinks there is no point in talking about normalization of the agricultural products and fertilizers export from Russia to Africa with the help of the United Nations. As an example, he cited the shipment of the first batch of Russian fertilizers to Africa from the Netherlands on November 28 last year.
"The first and only shipment of 20,000 tons of Russian fertilizers was delivered to Mozambique last December and should now be on its way to Malawi. Almost five months have already passed since only one and a small portion of the UN donated fertilizer was sent, but the shipment has still not reached its recipient. We can't even imagine how long it will take to unblock and deliver the remaining 242,000 tons of product. If the realization of this fully humanitarian initiative is moving with such difficulties and obstacles, it is impossible to talk about the normalization of the export of our agricultural products and fertilizers with the help of the UN," reads the comment of the Russian ambassador in Telegram-channel of the diplomatic mission.
Earlier, the representative of the administration of the Mozambican port of Beira said that the unloading of the first batch of Russian fertilizers for Africa, which is intended for Malawi, began on January 23 at the port. The volume of the cargo is nearly 20 thousand tons.
Presidents of Turkey and Russia Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin discussed on January 16 by phone the free supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the African countries in need.
