Russian Ambassador Highlights Education as Key Pillar of Russia-Pakistan Cooperation

26 November

Educational collaboration forms a crucial component of Russia-Pakistan bilateral relations, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert Khorev stated during a visit by a Russian delegation to an Islamabad boys' school offering Russian language instruction.

"I find it highly symbolic that we are commencing the official program of the Intergovernmental Commission's tenth anniversary session at a Pakistani educational institution," the diplomat remarked. "This demonstrates that the educational sphere represents a vital part of the comprehensive Russia-Pakistan cooperation framework."

The ambassador noted that a dedicated education working group has been established under the bilateral intergovernmental commission. He emphasized the significance of last year's initiative to create a Russian school in Pakistan that would integrate both Russian and Pakistani educational standards, expressing Moscow's commitment to this project and anticipating continued support from Pakistani authorities.

Khorev reported that Russian language centers have already opened in Karachi, Islamabad, Sargodha, and several other Pakistani cities. Through the "Russian Teacher Abroad" program, the geography of Russian language instruction is expected to expand nationwide across the Islamic republic.

The diplomatic engagement coincides with the 10th session of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, meeting in Islamabad from November 25-27 under the co-chairmanship of Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev and his Pakistani counterpart Awais Leghari.
