Russian and Palestinian Ambassadors Meet in Beijing to Discuss Middle East Peace

Igor Morgulov, the Russian Ambassador to China, met with his Palestinian counterpart, Javad Awad, to discuss the prospects for resolving the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The meeting was hosted at the Russian diplomatic mission in Beijing.

 

During the conversation, Morgulov formally congratulated Javad Awad on his recent appointment as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the People's Republic of China. The Russian embassy described the exchange as taking place in the "friendly and trusting atmosphere" that traditionally defines the relationship between the two nations.

 

A central theme of the discussion was the path toward a long-term settlement in the region. Ambassador Awad expressed his deep appreciation for Moscow's unwavering stance on the Palestinian issue. He specifically highlighted Russia's consistent defense of the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent sovereign state, grounded in the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
