A delegation of Russian journalists has successfully concluded a visit to Uzbekistan, organized by the Academy of Youth Diplomacy with support from the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia–Islamic World" and the Foundation for Strategic Dialogue and Partnership. The event highlighted the importance of developing humanitarian and media ties between Russia and Islamic nations.
This visit continued dialogue initiated earlier in Kazan, where Tatarstan First Deputy Prime Minister Marat Gatin met with Uzbek media representatives under the "Dialogue of Cultures: Tatarstan-Uzbekistan" project. Gatin had described the initiative as a "priority project" in bilateral relations, emphasizing its role in strengthening ties between fraternal peoples and the importance of people's diplomacy in building trust.
On November 14, the dialogue advanced further through a meeting at Uzbekistan's "Ziyo Forum" Foundation for Science and Education Development, bringing together delegations from Uzbekistan and Tatarstan. The event gathered over 100 participants including Uzbek national and private media professionals, bloggers, journalism students, and youth activists, while Tatarstan's delegation comprised media representatives, influencers, and youth policy experts.
The meeting aimed to strengthen Uzbekistan-Tatarstan cooperation in the cultural, educational, media, and youth sectors while establishing a permanent platform for professional exchange.
During roundtable discussions, participants shared best practices in media industry development and discussed contemporary trends, including social media engagement. This direct dialogue helps establish lasting connections between journalistic communities and strengthens the information bridge between the two countries.
Journalists particularly noted the extensive international work of host organization "Ziyo Forum" in supporting Uzbekistan's talented youth.
The GSV "Russia–Islamic World" support for this project reflects its consistent efforts to facilitate direct dialogue among experts, journalists, and public figures. During the earlier Kazan meeting, Uzbek guests received detailed briefings about the Group's activities under Tatarstan Leader Rustam Minnikhanov's leadership since 2014. Through his efforts, the Group's contribution to rapprochement with the Islamic world has significantly expanded, with several practical projects now implemented in Uzbekistan and other countries.
The dialogue initiated in Kazan has now successfully transitioned to a new platform in Uzbekistan, demonstrating sustained interest in deepening cooperation. Plans are underway for a future offsite meeting focused on culture and economic partnership, opening new horizons for collaborative work.
