Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Ethiopian Upper House Speaker Agegnehu Teshager discussed on Wednesday preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, as well as issues of bilateral relations.
"Issues related to preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg in July were discussed," the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement following the meeting.
The Russian diplomatic office noted that the sides discussed "key directions of further strengthening of traditionally friendly Russian-Ethiopian relations, including the build-up of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economic, investment, educational and humanitarian fields."
In addition, the two countries confirmed their common goal "to deepen political dialogue and coordination of actions in the international arena, including the use of the resources of parliamentary diplomacy." "At the same time, there was a detailed exchange of views on the regional agenda of mutual interest with a focus on the problems of resolving the situation in Sudan and the Horn of Africa," the ministry concluded.
Teshager is on an official visit to Moscow.
