Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries and Deputy Foreign Minister, discussed the Syrian settlement with Stefano Ravagnan, Italian Foreign Ministry's Special Coordinator for Syria, on Friday, focusing on the tasks of promoting the political process in the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR).
Alexander Lavrentyev, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Syrian settlement, and Italian Ambassador to Moscow Giorgio Starache also took part in the discussion.
"The importance of consolidating international efforts to advance the political process in the SAR in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 was emphasized. Particular attention was paid to the tasks of post-conflict reconstruction and early overcoming of the difficult socio-economic and humanitarian situation in Syria," the Russian MFA said in a statement.
