Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Meets with UN Gaza Coordinator in New York

On Sunday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin met with Sigrid Kaag, UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, at the United Nations headquarters in New York. They discussed the ongoing situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone, as reported by the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN.

 

According to the statement, “The parties exchanged views on the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, in light of the ongoing Israeli military operation in Gaza. They discussed the efforts of Ms. Kaag and her team aimed at providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need and those affected, in line with the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2720.”

 

The permanent mission's press service further noted that both sides “reaffirmed the urgent need for a ceasefire, the release of all forcibly detained individuals, the provision of full humanitarian aid, and the revival of the peace process based on internationally recognized legal frameworks.”
