Russia values Indonesia's efforts to help resolve the crisis in Ukraine, but the refusal of the Jakarta initiative shows that Kiev and its handlers are unwilling to consider peaceful options for resolving the conflict. The Russian embassy in Jakarta told TASS.
"We value the efforts of the Indonesian side to help resolve the crisis in Ukraine. Nevertheless, we see that the Kiev regime and its Western handlers are unwilling to consider any peaceful solutions to the conflict. This is once again confirmed by their categorical refusal from the initiative put forward by Indonesia," the diplomatic mission said.
The embassy has not commented on reports about a meeting of Indonesian emissaries with Russian diplomats, which was devoted to the peace initiative on Ukraine put forward by Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto. A TASS source earlier reported that such a meeting took place, but did not specify the level and did not provide details.
On June 3, Subianto proposed a plan for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, which includes a ceasefire, the creation of a demilitarized zone and the deployment of UN peacekeepers. The initiative was presented during his speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore.
