For the first time, volunteers from the international program Russian Language Ambassadors in the World will travel to Malaysia on an educational mission. The expedition will take place from July 22 to August 6, the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute’s press service told TASS.
The volunteers will hold interactive lessons in Russian language, literature, and culture at the newly opened Russian Language Center in the city of Kuantan. They will also conduct workshops for students at UCYP University in Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur University.
The delegation includes four program volunteers, as well as Daniil Sin, deputy head of the Institute’s international cooperation department, and Arina Martynova from its youth policy division.
In April, Pushkin Institute rector Nikita Gusev visited Malaysia, signing a cooperation agreement with UCYP University and announcing the opening of the Russian Language Center in Kuantan.
“The geography of our missions continues to expand — this is the first time our volunteers are heading to Malaysia,” Gusev told TASS. “It’s important that their lessons will be held at the new center we opened this spring at UCYP University. The center will become a hub for creative dialogue and cultural exchange. I’m confident these young Russian volunteers will inspire more Malaysians to learn Russian and help strengthen our bilateral ties.”
About the Program
Russian Language Ambassadors in the World is an international volunteer initiative that brings Russian language, culture, and traditions to foreign students and schoolchildren through engaging, game-based lessons. It also promotes reading, literacy, and appreciation of Russian history and culture among Russian children.
The program has been run by the Pushkin Institute since 2015 with support from Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Foreign Ministry, Rossotrudnichestvo, Rosmolodezh, and other organizations.
Over the past decade, volunteers have taken part in more than 100 missions to 24 countries and eight Russian regions, reaching over 60,000 students worldwide.
