Russia's Prosecutor general Igor Krasnov suggested developing additional measures against the infiltration of criminal elements disguised as refugees from Afghanistan into CIS territory. The press service of the Russian Prosecutor general's office told TASS on Thursday that Krasnov took part in the 31st meeting of the CIS Coordinating council of prosecutors general which takes place in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan. He thanked his colleagues for their trust and his re-election as chairman of the Coordinating council for 2022.
"As my first assignment to the new executive secretary, I propose within two months, with the participation of all our prosecutors' offices, to work on joint additional measures to protect our territories from terrorists, drug traffickers and other criminal elements infiltrating from Afghanistan under the guise of refugees," Krasnov said, as quoted by the press service of the Prosecutor general's office.
The committee also approved a plan for the implementation of a CIS program of cooperation in strengthening border security on the external borders for the period of 2021-2025. Krasnov expressed confidence that the participation of the Coordinating council in its practical implementation will improve the protection of states and peoples from cross-border crimes, including urgent threats emanating from the territory of Afghanistan.
