Upon his arrival in Riyadh for the INNOPROM Saudi Arabia international industrial exhibition, Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held a high-level meeting with Nasser Majali, the Secretary General of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA).
The ISSA is an independent body operating under the umbrella of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), representing 57 member states. The association is dedicated to supporting athletes and advancing sports development across the Islamic world through various programs, most notably the multi-sport Islamic Solidarity Games held every four years.
During the meeting, Minnikhanov emphasized that expanding cooperation in the sporting arena is essential for strengthening dialogue and solidarity among OIC member states. He highlighted the pivotal role played by the ISSA in this process.
"In recent years, we have successfully hosted several large-scale international events, including the Games of the Future and the BRICS Games," Minnikhanov noted. He expressed strong interest in a new international multi-sport initiative: the hosting of the OIC Youth Games.
Furthermore, Minnikhanov assured the secretary general that Kazan’s world-class infrastructure is fully equipped to host any major sporting event, including the flagship Islamic Solidarity Games.
Nasser Majali confirmed that the association would consider this proposal. He spoke highly of Kazan’s reputation as a premier sporting hub, noting its proven track record in successfully organizing global competitions of any scale.
