The Senate of Uzbekistan at the 42nd plenary session of the ratification approved a treaty on the demarcation of the border with Kazakhstan. This was reported on the website of the Senate.
"The treaty fully completes the work on the delineation of the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan state border and thereby creates the most important prerequisites for ensuring its security and inviolability <...> The law ["On the Ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Demarcation of the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan State Border"] was approved by senators," the message reads.
According to the Senate website, the document was signed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on December 21, 2022. According to the agreement, the length of the demarcated state borderline between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan is over 2,356 km.
The report also notes that in recent years, a new period of cooperation between the two countries in the political, trade and economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres has begun.
