Shoigu Visits Kazakhstan for Security Talks

Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu has arrived in Astana to discuss bilateral relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, security issues, and the situations in Syria and Afghanistan. This marks Shoigu’s first international trip in 2025.

 

According to the press service of Russia's Security Council, the visit will include bilateral consultations between the security councils of Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as a meeting with Kazakhstan’s Security Council Secretary, Gizat Nurdauletov. Discussions will cover a range of topics, including bilateral relations in various sectors, current international and regional security challenges, and developments in Central Asia, Syria, and Afghanistan.

 

Shoigu is also expected to meet with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the visit.

 

This trip follows Shoigu's previous visit to Kazakhstan in late November 2024.
