The United States intends to increase the number of the navy at the expense of robotic ships, since, according to the command of the US Navy, the currently available American ships are vulnerable to Russian and Chinese missiles. According to the American edition of National Interest, Washington intends to spend about four billion dollars on the purchase of ten large unmanned surface ships and nine large robotic submarines.
At the same time, the new ships will perform «the functions of both detection and attack». Their sizes will be smaller, however they will be more autonomous and cheaper.
It is known that it was reported that the United States is developing a new missile frigate, which will serve as the control centre for a flotilla of unmanned ships and submarines.
