President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on awarding the highest degree of distinction in the republic - the title "Khalyk kakharmany" ("National Hero") - three participants of the Great Patriotic War. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the head of state.
"For courage and heroism shown in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, to assign the highest degree of distinction - the title "Khalyk kakharmany" - with the award of a badge of special distinction - the Golden Star and the Order of Otan - to the sniper of the 2nd rifle company of the 302nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 8th Guards Rifle Red Banner Division Tulegali Nasyrkhanovich Abdybekov (posthumously), the commander of the 1st rifle battalion of the 690th rifle regiment of the 126th Gorlovka Red Banner Division, Nesmiyanov Aleksandr Alexandrovich (posthumously), sniper-observer of the 2nd division of rifle battalion of the 100th separate rifle brigade Suleimenov Ibraim (posthumously)," the decree reads.
During the Great Patriotic War, 1.2 million Kazakhs were mobilised to the front; half of these men perished on the battlefields. More than 500 Kazakhs were decorated with the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, there are 381 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and 97,758 citizens who contributed to the victory.
