President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that he considers it important to continue the negotiation process to resolve the situation in Ukraine. The president's press service reported this on Tuesday following his speech at a special panel session of the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha.
"Responding to a question about the prospects for resolving the Russian-Ukrainian conflict peacefully, the leader of Kazakhstan stressed the importance of continuing the negotiation process. According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the good will of each side is needed to resolve this conflict," the report said.
At the same time, Tokayev pointed to disagreements in the international community and the weakness of the UN Security Council in resolving the issue.
"Never before has the UN found itself in such an unpleasant situation. Even during the Cold War, the UN was much more united. I am very concerned about what will happen to the UN in the future. That said, I firmly believe in multilateralism and I firmly believe that the international community must be more united and show solidarity, and of course have a positive impact on both states, so that they can come to peace," the Kazakh president stressed.
