Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has reprimanded the republic's ambassador to Egypt, Kairat Lam Sharif, for violating the code of ethics of civil servants. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the head of state.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reprimanded Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Arab Republic of Egypt Kairat Kairbekuly Lam Sharif for non-compliance with paragraph 9 of the Code of Ethics of civil servants of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the message reads.
According to media reports, the diplomat on the Facebook page (banned in Russia, belongs to the corporation Meta, which is recognized as extremist entity in Russia) proposed to get rid of controversial names of the Soviet and Russian empire, to return the capital city the former name of Astana and rename the republic in the Kazakh State. This post is currently missing from the diplomat's page.
Paragraph 9 of the Code of Ethics states that civil servants should not publicly express their opinion on issues of state policy and official activity, if it does not correspond to the main directions of state policy, discloses official information that is not allowed for public disclosure, and contains unethical statements about state officials, public administration bodies, other civil servants.
