Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for a prompt response to his request for peacekeepers.
"I address special words of gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He responded very promptly, and most importantly, in a friendly manner, to my appeal," Tokayev said in his message to the nation.
