Turkey's Defense Ministry is negotiating with Russia and Ukraine to return two of its planes from Boryspil airport, which have been there since February 24, Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Saturday.
"On the evening of February 24, we sent two of our A400M planes with humanitarian aid [to Ukraine]. At the same time, we were planning to evacuate our citizens from there. Two of our planes are currently waiting at Boryspil airport due to the closure of airspace upon arrival. We are continuing our contacts with both Russia and Ukraine on this issue in order to ensure the maximum safety of our planes," Habertürk TV quoted him as saying.
Akar recalled that he had held talks with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts Sergei Shoigu and Alexei Reznikov. "We had talks, we will continue them. We expect positive developments," the head of the Turkish Defense Ministry noted.
