The easing of the visa regime in Russia for the Turkish citizens is necessary for the development of the economies of the two countries. This was stated by Turkish Ambassador to Russia Mehmet Samsar during the business dialogue "Russia-Turkey" at the "Innoprom" International industrial exhibition.
"One of the important factors that will contribute to the development of our relations [Russia and Turkey] even more actively is the lifting of the visa regime, or at least the easing of the visa regime for Turkish citizens," he said. The ambassador noted that today there is still a visa problem for Turkish citizens with coming to Russia and business activities in the country. "We need to do everything possible, we in the presence of the two deputy ministers [of Russia and Turkey] wanted to ask that this topic be taken into account," he added.
Speaking about the economies of the two countries, the Turkish ambassador to Russia noted that last year the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $35 billion, and in the six months of this year the foreign trade turnover has already reached $30 billion. However, the trade exchange is not equal - a large share of Russian exports are energy products, and "Turkish exports cannot reach the figures that are covered by Russian energy exports," he noted. The Turkish side recalled the prospects for joint work in the areas of shipbuilding and mechanical engineering, metallurgy and in the field of innovative technologies - but they all require special attention from government agencies. "In this regard, the development of various economic zones, various technoparks will help Turkish business to more actively enter the Russian economy, Russian business - in the Turkish economy," concluded the ambassador.
