Turkish ships blocked in Russian ports in the Sea of Azov because of the situation in Ukraine have left for their destinations. This was reported on Friday by Turkey's General Directorate of Navigation.
" 17 out of 18 Turkish vessels waiting in Russian ports of the Sea of Azov since February 24 have departed for their destination ports. One vessel is waiting to be loaded in Temryuk. Due to unfavorable weather conditions some of our vessels are waiting in Kerch," the statement reads.
Turkish media previously reported that some cargo ships were blocked in the Sea of Azov due to the situation in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Turkey's General Directorate of Navigation reported that Turkish vessels continue cargo operations in Russian ports, except for ports in the Sea of Azov.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow's plans did not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories. After that, the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom, and a number of other states announced that they were imposing sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities.
