The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has approved the use of the Russian coronavirus drug Sputnik Light as a separate vaccine and booster shot, the Russian direct investment fund reported.
"The UAE approved Sputnik Light (the first component of the Sputnik V vaccine) as a separate vaccine. The UAE has also approved Sputnik Light as a booster shot," according to an RDIF post on the vaccine's official Twitter account.
The Sputnik V vaccine was registered in the UAE in January of this year under a fast-track procedure. During the vaccination of the UAE population, it was found that the effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine was 97.8%. The Russian vaccine also demonstrated full (100%) efficacy against severe cases of coronavirus.
