The United States is actively calling on its NATO allies and partners in the Arab world to step up collective efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
"President Trump is in talks with our European allies and many of our partners in the Gulf and the Arab world, urging them to step up and do more to open the Strait of Hormuz," Leavitt stated. She specifically emphasized that NATO allies, in particular, need to take a more active role in the burgeoning maritime crisis.
