Uzbekistan is Russia’s closest partner and steadfast ally, and this will not change. That’s the message from Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is currently on a two-day visit to Samarkand.
“Today, Uzbek-Russian relations are immune to changing times or external circumstances. Uzbekistan has always been and will continue to be Russia’s closest partner and most reliable ally,” Saidov stated.
He emphasized that the presidents of both countries set the tone for their bilateral relationship. “Through their personal example, [they] demonstrate how, in today’s challenging world, it is crucial to preserve friendship and foster long-term cooperation,” Saidov added.
Lavrov’s visit includes a scheduled meeting with Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and in-depth discussions with Saidov. Talks are expected to focus on bilateral ties, Eurasian integration, and preparations for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
