Vershinin and Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Discuss Middle East Escalation

On September 22, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and his Turkish counterpart Nuh Yilmaz discussed the current situation in the Arab-Israeli conflict zone and Lebanon, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported following the meeting on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

 

“Particular attention was given to the ongoing escalation of violence in the Middle East, specifically in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria,” the ministry stated.

 

The Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that both diplomats exchanged views on pressing international and regional issues of mutual interest, which are currently under consideration by the UN Security Council and General Assembly.
