Rebuilding Gaza's healthcare system will require at least $7 billion, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced during a press briefing in Geneva.
The WHO chief reported that the organization has assisted in evacuating 41 patients and 145 companions to various countries for treatment. However, approximately 15,000 patients—including 4,000 children—still require medical care outside Gaza. Tragically, over 700 people have died while awaiting evacuation.
This healthcare assessment comes alongside a joint UN, EU, and World Bank rapid evaluation estimating total reconstruction costs for Gaza at approximately $70 billion, though officials note not all areas will be fully restored.
