Zakharova: Russia Will Continue to Work for Stability in Middle East

04 December

Russia will continue its efforts towards long-term and sustainable stabilization in the Middle East, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing.

The diplomat noted that Russia maintains regular contacts with both Israeli leadership and the authorities and political forces in Lebanon.

“We discuss the difficult situation that has developed on the border, along with all other related issues. We are extremely concerned by the increasingly frequent reports from there regarding Israel's violations of the ceasefire agreements that came into force in November 2024, and we regularly convey to all involved parties our firm position on the need to avoid steps that could lead to an escalation of violence and a new round of armed conflict,” Zakharova emphasized.

“We will certainly continue, in cooperation with regional and international partners, to work for stable and long-term stabilization of the situation around Lebanon and in the Middle East as a whole,” the Russian foreign ministry representative stated.
