Group Meeting Adopts Press Statement

The Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group that gathered in the city of Grozny for its annual meeting chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov states the following:

The participants of the meeting welcomed the address by Russian President Vladimir Putin read by the President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov.

The developments in recent years have revealed a crisis of the contemporary system of international relations, calling for constructive dialogue and effective cooperation. The Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group serves as a platform for such collaboration by holding a broad range of events with a view to further strengthen relations between Russia and the Islamic states and put into practice the strategic partnership between Russia and the Muslim world. A synergy of the Russian and Islamic states’ potentials can be a powerful factor in reviving a healthy environment in international relations.

Peace between different nations and religions is a critical condition for sustainable and long-lasting development. Russia’s experience could be of practical value in the fight against international terrorism. However, desirable results in combating radicalism will only come through promoting and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries.

The participants concur that Russia and Muslim states shall pay special focus to fostering better trade, economic and investment ties that serve as a solid foundation for collaboration at the political and other levels.

The fact that Russia is part of the Muslim world elevates our cooperation to a strategic level.

The meeting participants praise Russia’s relationship with the Islamic world and express hope that Moscow will continue to play a constructive role in resolving the issues that Islamic states are facing.

It was also decided to expand cooperation in technology, science and culture. Youth shall also become the focus of the Group's activities.

The Group members expressed support for the legitimate rights of the Arab people of Palestine. Peaceful co-existence of the states of Palestine and Israel is an indispensable factor in ensuring genuine security and stability in the region.

All the delegates have expressed their gratitude to the Russian hosts, including personally to the Chairman of the Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group, Tatastan President Rustam Minnikhanov, and Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov for their hospitality and effective organization of the forum.
