Naumkin: “Migration Biggest Threat for Humanity Today.”

Vice-President for Research of the Institute of Oriental Studies Vitaly Naumkin spoke at the international forum 'Moving from Dialogue to Partnership of Civilizations' co-sponsored by Russia's MGIMO University and the RIW group.

"Since 2003, tension between Islam and the West rose drastically. We realized something has to be done."

Mr. Naumkin called migration the biggest threat for humanity today. "Some countries are reluctant to accommodate refugees, there is also a cultural gap that often results in conflicts," he argued.

He also raised the issue of radicalism: "Radicalism still remains an issue. I often visit Syria and see what challenges they are witnessing as part of the resolution process."

The international forum 'Moving from Dialogue to Partnership of Civilizations' co-sponsored by Russia's MGIMO University and the RIW group brought together eminent scholars, public and political figures from Russian and abroad who talked about the need to move towards a genuine partnership between civilizations.
