Mukhametshin: in the modern world, the struggle for preservation of traditional moral ideals is growing

The world has changed radically in recent decades. The struggle for preservation of traditional moral ideals, cultural and spiritual heritage of mankind is intensifying, Farit Mukhametshin, the Deputy Chairman of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World", the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council said, speaking at the "Chingiz Aitmatov International Forum of Writers and Intellectuals" videoconference.


According to him, in the modern world, the role and importance of international cooperation in the interaction of cultures and civilizations is increasing, which is one of the main objectives of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World".


Today, the world intellectual community, as Mukhametshin emphasized, faces the task to develop recommendations on what tomorrow could look like in the global sense. When the world faces serious existential problems, the intellectual approach is very important. This is the meaning of the heritage of Chingiz Aitmatov, who together with Evgeny Primakov and Mintimer Shaimiev was at the origin of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World".


The theme of this year's Forum is "Russia and Islamic world: The role of traditional values in maintaining cultural diversity". The aim of the forum is to unite intellectuals to develop joint approaches to solving urgent spiritual, moral and humanitarian issues of modern society.


The Forum is attended by Farit Mukhametshin, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Chairman of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World", Ramazan Abdulatipov, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Konstantin Shuvalov, the Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for Cooperation with Organizations of Muslim States, Irina Bokova, the former head of UNESCO, Mounir Bouchenaki, the Special Adviser to UNESCO Director-General.
