Special Advisor to the Head of UNESCO noted the experience of Tatarstan in ensuring interreligious peace

Speaking at the "Chingiz Aitmatov International Forum of Writers and Intellectuals" videoconference, Mounir Bouchenaki, the Special Advisor to the Director-General of UNESCO, the Director of the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage, the former Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, focused on the experience of Tatarstan in the field of interreligious peace and harmony.


UNESCO representative noted that the Bolgar complex, located in the republic, is the brightest example when religion was accepted by the population peacefully.


The Bolgar historical complex became a symbol of the coexistence of cultures and religions. It is an example of what society should be like today.


Knowledge and education, as Bouchenaki emphasized, are the basis for the peaceful coexistence of cultures and civilizations. "We must know each other... Living with each other and accepting each other in all diversity is an integral part of today's world",  the Special Advisor to UNESCO Director-General noted.
