Manturov told when the serial production of Russia's first coronavirus vaccine will begin

Three Russian companies in September should start industrial production of the first Russian coronavirus vaccine developed by the Gamalei center, said in an interview with TASS, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.


"The Gamalei Institute  is working on serial production with three companies with sites in the Vladimir, Yaroslavl and Moscow regions-Generium, R-Pharm and Binnopharm. < ... > We very much expect that serial production should already start in September, " he said.


According to the Minister, the enterprises are now preparing for production, and the technologies are being debugged. "Someone is buying more equipment, in particular, reactors," he said.


The Minister also said that at the initial stage this year, several thousand doses of vaccines will be produced per month, and by the beginning of next year, companies will increase production to several million.


Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova previously called the most promising vaccines from the coronavirus National research center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Gamalei of the Ministry of Health and the "Vector" center of Rospotrebnadzor. The second phase of clinical trials of the Gamalei center's vaccine is at the final stage, it must be registered in August "on conditions" (that is, after registration, another clinical trial of the drug for 1,600 people will be conducted).


Clinical trials of the Vector vaccine should be completed in September, after which it will be registered. The first batch of the vaccine is planned to be produced in October 2020, Golikova said.
