Moscow may host Indonesian Festival in 2023

25 May 2023

The Moscow government hopes that this year Moscow will host the Indonesian Festival, which in 2020 was postponed due to the pandemic. Sergei Cheremin, Head of Moscow's Department of External Economic and International Relations, said this on Thursday at the II Eurasian Economic Forum.

"I would like our colleagues to resume the tradition of holding the Indonesian Festival in Moscow. It has already been held twice in our capital with great success with the support of the Moscow government. In 2020, unfortunately, the festival was postponed. I hope that this year it will still take place, and we will hold the Days of Moscow in Jakarta in return,"  said Cheremin.

According to him, Moscow authorities are also ready to share experience in launching electric water transport with Indonesia, as it is an environmentally friendly mode of transport. The head of the department expressed confidence that it may be in demand in the "country of islands".

He added that colleagues from Jakarta are primarily interested in studying Moscow's experience in developing transport and transport infrastructure.

"We took the initiative to share our expertise in urban planning. Moscow today is one of the most advanced cities in the world. <...> Given the interest that Indonesia has today in interacting with Moscow, we recently discussed new prospects of cooperation with Mr. ambassador and came to the conclusion that we need to hold the Days of Economy and Culture in Moscow at the end of this year. What would we like to offer our Indonesian colleagues? First and foremost, of course, is our knowledge and experience in implementing very large infrastructure transport projects", stressed Cheremin.

He specified that, in addition, colleagues from Jakarta, who visited Moscow, would like to learn from the Russian experience in healthcare development. Including in the implementation of electronic system, which today allows to manage Moscow clinics and facilitate easy access to doctors.
