Patrushev: migration flows to Russia are used by terrorists to create new cells

18 February 2022

Migration flows to Russia are actively used by terrorists to ferry fighters and create new cells, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Friday at the meeting on security issues in the Ural Federal District.

"Migration flows are actively used by international terrorist and extremist organizations to ferry their members and form new cells," he said.

According to Patrushev, over 2,000 foreigners suspected of terrorist and extremist activities have not been allowed to enter the country in the last three years.

The secretary of the Security Service also pointed out that a significant length and insufficient equipment of the Russian-Kazakhstani section of the state border "forms the risks of illegal penetration of foreigners into the Russian territory".
