Putin Approves Fundamentals of Russia's State Language Policy

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree approving the fundamentals of the state's language policy in Russia. The policy aims to preserve, develop and support the Russian language, as well as the state languages of Russia's republics and other languages of the country's peoples.

 

The document outlines the current state, goals, principles, and objectives of Russia's language policy, as well as tools and mechanisms for its implementation. It also emphasizes Russia's commitment to countering attempts to undermine its culture and restrict the use of the Russian language.

 

Additionally, the decree notes the unjustified use of foreign words in official speech.
