Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the FSB to take a hard line against attempts to split Russian society and to combat Russophobia actively.
"The fight against extremism remains a critical task for the FSB. Significant progress has been made in this area in recent years. We must continue to firmly suppress the criminal activities of those who promote ideas of Russophobia, xenophobia, and religious intolerance, and who thereby attempt to split our society," he emphasized during a meeting of the FSB board.
Putin noted that 2026 has been designated the Year of Unity for the Peoples of Russia. "Patriotism and a shared responsibility for the fate of the Motherland have always united our people. We must preserve, develop, and protect these traditions, and respond decisively to any attempts to undermine or weaken the foundations of Russia’s constitutional order," the head of state noted.
