President Vladimir Putin congratulated the staff and veterans of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on their professional holiday, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining effective international engagement amid complex global circumstances.
"In today’s challenging international environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly and consistently defends Russia’s legitimate national interests. It ensures effective cooperation with the global majority to build a just, multipolar world order based on mutual respect, adherence to international law, and the principles of equal and indivisible security," stated Putin in a message published on the Kremlin’s website.
He pointed to the productive work of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship and the success of the summit in Kazan as evidence of the Ministry’s effectiveness.
Putin expressed confidence in the Ministry’s unified team, praising their dedication to strengthening Russia’s foreign policy position. "I sincerely wish all employees of the Ministry’s central office and overseas missions continued success, and I extend my best wishes for health, vitality, and longevity to the esteemed veterans of diplomatic service," he said.
The President also emphasized the Ministry’s role in countering historical revisionism, neo-Nazism, Russophobia, and other forms of discrimination, especially during the 80th anniversary year of the Great Victory. He underscored the importance of protecting the rights of Russian compatriots abroad.
Diplomat’s Day, celebrated annually on February 10, was established by a presidential decree from Vladimir Putin on October 31, 2002, to honor the country’s diplomatic professionals.
