Putin Congratulates Citizens on Russia Day

12 June

President Vladimir Putin marked Russia Day by highlighting the country’s long and continuous history, calling the celebration a symbol of the Russian state's more than a thousand-year journey.

“Today is Russia Day — a day of our Motherland,” Putin said during a Kremlin ceremony honoring recipients of the Hero of Labor medal and State Prizes. “This powerful word evokes deep and heartfelt emotions in all of us — warmth, love, and inspiration for noble deeds, achievements, and victories. I wholeheartedly congratulate you on a holiday that reflects the strong and unbroken path of the Russian state, spanning over a millennium.”

He emphasized that Russia’s rich history, cultural heritage, natural wealth, and the diversity of its regions all reflect the shared destiny of its multinational people — a legacy shaped by generations and their loyalty to unity in both labor and defense.

“This unified perception of Russia is one of our greatest achievements. A caring, devoted attitude toward our homeland strengthens its power, independence, and sovereignty,” the president noted.

Russia Day is celebrated annually on June 12, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty in 1990 — a foundational step toward the modern Russian Constitution.
