Putin Congratulates Russians on Knowledge Day

01 September

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his congratulations to schoolchildren, college students, teachers and parents on Knowledge Day. His video message was published on the Kremlin’s official website.

“This holiday is linked to the life story of each of us,” the president said. He noted that everyone’s journey into adulthood began in school.

Putin emphasized that on September 1, many Russian families see their children and grandchildren off to school. “I especially want to congratulate those children who will hear the first school bell today,” he said.

He highlighted that for first-graders, a new, important and exciting chapter begins—a time of growth and discovery, where talents and abilities will unfold, and much is yet to be learned. Some will develop a love for the humanities, while others will be drawn to the exact or natural sciences. “But I am confident that all of you will find fascinating and useful the rich history and culture of our Fatherland,” the president remarked.

Putin also pointed out that students will need to master and harness digital technologies and artificial intelligence, while preserving their individuality and the ability to think freely and independently.

“We will do everything to ensure that all Russian children, all young people, have the best conditions to acquire modern knowledge,” he stated.

He stressed the importance of every child growing up healthy, happy and well-rounded; receiving a quality education; and being able to choose a path they love.

“It is important that children love their Motherland wholeheartedly, respect their elders, and value friendship and camaraderie,” Putin said.

Therefore, he added, great attention is being paid to education and the upbringing of the younger generation, as well as comprehensive support for teachers and the improvement of curricula and school infrastructure.
