Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree to establish a new Council for Interaction with Religious Associations, simultaneously dissolving the previous iteration of the body. The official document has been published and is now in effect.
This restructuring aims to refine state policy regarding the relationship between the government and religious organizations. According to the decree, the council's primary goals are to foster a unified Russian civic identity and to focus on the preservation and reinforcement of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.
The council's membership remains largely unchanged. The new decree also formally approves the updated bylaws governing the council’s operations and mandate.
