Family forms the foundation of Russia’s development, President Vladimir Putin said at a ceremony honoring Heroes of Russia with the “Gold Star” medal.
“Today is a day of celebration, but we must always remember why we honor these occasions — thanks to the people here in this hall, and to their parents and spouses. Everything begins in the family. It is in the family that a person grows, both physically and morally. The family shapes who we are, and that is why our policies focus so heavily on supporting families,” Putin said, acknowledging that while some initiatives succeed more than others, the principle remains the same.
“The overall direction of our country’s development is built around the family. And around the homeland, because the homeland is our great, united, extended family,” he added.
