Putin: Serving the Homeland, a Sacred Duty for All Russians

15 January

Defending and serving the homeland has always been, and remains, a sacred duty for Russian citizens, uniting the nation, President Vladimir Putin emphasized during a meeting of the Victory Organizing Committee.

“Defending the homeland and serving it have always been a sacred duty for us. These feelings of love for our country and responsibility for it unite our society,” Putin stated. “Every citizen of Russia contributes to the preservation of our nation.”

The president stressed that this principle applies to all of Russian society. Every individual, through their work, achievements in science, culture, education, the economy, industry, and military service, helps ensure Russia's stable development for both the near and distant future.

Opening the committee meeting, Putin noted that the country is entering a significant year. “In May, we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Its importance in Russia's history and in the values and character of our people is truly immense,” he remarked.

To honor the enduring memory of the Great Patriotic War and the monumental victory over Nazism, Putin reminded that 2025 has been designated as the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, symbolizing the unbroken continuity of generations.
