The head of state noted that in a short time the government has established a systematic work to combat the spread of coronavirus. According to him, the ministers kept their hands up and "maintained composure, self-control, efficiency and worked under great pressure.
The president expressed confidence that the ordeal "has strengthened and hardened" everyone, including the government.
Putin reminded that the current cabinet of ministers has been working together for less than a year, but "we have managed to do a lot during this time".
"We have a mutual understanding, there is an understanding of where we need to go, there is a sense of elbow. And it is through teamwork that we have been able to do a lot to mitigate the negative effects of the epidemic, to help those who have been particularly difficult," the president added.
He also confessed that he sometimes had to discuss the situation with the pandemic with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, even at night.
Speaking about the challenges ahead, Putin urged the Russian authorities to move as quickly as possible from anticrisis measures to a strategic agenda, to work as united as possible, and not to attribute failures and mistakes to current difficulties.
He expressed confidence that the government would continue to work in dialogue with the regions and municipalities, the business community and non-profit organizations, and would rely on the support of the country's citizens.
