Putin: Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in Russia Honors War Veterans and Participants in the Special Military Operation

The Year of the Defender of the Fatherland has been dedicated to commemorating the heroic deeds of veterans of the Great Patriotic War as well as today’s heroes—participants in the special military operation, Russian President Vladimir Putin during a ceremony to honor Leningrad veterans.

 

“This year, we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. It has been declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in Russia, symbolizing our unwavering remembrance of the events of the Great Patriotic War, the glorious feats of the victorious generation, and honoring today’s heroes—participants in the special military operation. They are defending our homeland and safeguarding Russia’s interests and security,” said the president.

 

Putin noted that some heroes of the special military operation were present at the ceremony and invited attendees to applaud them in recognition.
